John Albert vs. Byron Bloodworth Booked for ‘The Ultimate Fighter LIVE’ Finale

Bantamweights agree to bout on June 1 card at The Palms in Las Vegas

The UFC has booked a bantamweight bout for its June card in Las Vegas.

John Albert and Byron Bloodworth will meet on the preliminary card of the season finale of “The Ultimate Fighter LIVE” on June 1. The UFC recently announced the fight booking, which will take place at The Pearl at The Palms in Las Vegas.

The TUF Live Finale will be headlined by a welterweight contenders bout between Jake Ellenberger and Martin Kampmann. In addition, the lightweight finalists from this season’s reality show will meet to crown the latest Ultimate Fighter winner. The current season airs in a partially live format Friday nights at 10 p.m. on the FX cable network. The main card for the TUF Live Finale also will air on FX.

Albert (7-2, 1-1 UFC), a contestant on Season 14 of “The Ultimate Fighter” last fall, is coming off a rear naked choke loss to Ivan Menjivar at UFC on Fuel TV: Sanchez vs. Ellenberger in February in Omaha, Neb. He won his official UFC debut in December at the TUF 14 Finale with a first-round TKO of Dustin Pague. Albert started his career 6-0 with all six wins by stoppage before a June 2010 loss. He didn’t fight again until the TUF 14 elimination round. He won to get into the house, but lost to eventual bantamweight winner John Dodson in his first fight – though that bout was unofficial.

Bloodworth (6-2, 0-1 UFC) lost his UFC debut in October, a second-round TKO setback against highly touted 135-pound prospect Mike Easton. Bloodworth took that fight on short notice, filling in for an injured Jeff Hougland less than a week before the Oct. 1 show in Washington, D.C. Prior to that, Bloodworth had put together a three-fight winning streak before getting the call from the UFC.
