Featherweight prospects meet in August in Los Angeles

A featherweight bout between once top 145-pound prospect Josh Grispi and Pablo Garza is official for the UFC’s fourth stop on Fox.

UFC officials recently announced the news of the fight booking. UFC on Fox: Stann vs. Lombard takes place Aug. 4 at the Staples Center in Los Angeles.

Grispi rose to stardom during his time in the WEC, attaining the title of top prospect after several dominant victories. Following four wins, Grispi entered the UFC, only to have his momentum stolen away by current contender Dustin Poirier at UFC 125.

Following the loss to the Poirier, George Roop took care of the remaining momentum Gripsi could claim, finishing him with a punch to the body.

Garza, like his upcoming opponent, is looking for redemption after recent struggles. He has dropped two straight bouts, putting his UFC record at an even 2-2.

The first loss came to the aforementioned Poirier, while Dennis Bermudez defeated Garza earlier this month at UFC on Fox: Diaz vs. Miller.

The featherweight bout likely will take place on the preliminary card, while the Fox-televised broadcast of the main card features a main event between Brian Stann and former Bellator middleweight champion Hector Lombard, who will make his UFC debut.
