WSOF 1 Results: Arlovski, Johnson Earn Knockout Wins

Andrei Arlovski

WSOF 1 Results

The World Series of Fighting debuted this past weekend with its inaugural event in Las Vegas, Nevada, and the card certainly delivered.

The main card, which broadcast live on NBC Sports (formerly Versus), featured a technical knockout stoppage win for Andrei Arlovski in the main event. The former UFC champion needed just 2:37 into round one to earn the victory.

The evening’s co-main event featured another UFC veteran in Anthony “Rumble” Johnson, who continues to find his way up the light heavyweight ranks. He defeated D.J. Linderman via knockout at 3:18 of round one, leaving Linderman face-down on the mat.

Also on the main card, UFC veteran and former longtime WEC bantamweight champion Miguel Torres looked to regain his footing after being released by the UFC on a second occasion against Marlon Moraes.

Moraes, however, was a bit too much to handle for Torres, winning plenty of the striking exchanges and never really allowing the longtime veteran to find a strong rhythm. Moraes walked away with a split-decision nod from the judges.

The fight that kicked off the live broadcast also may have been the fight featuring the most dominant striking on a card with plenty of knockouts.

Tyrone Spong faced off against Travis Bartlett in his debut and almost immediately proved he was too much to handle. Bartlett never really seemed to be remotely close to the same league as Spong in the striking department, and Spong displayed that with a vicious first round knockout.
