Ryan Thomas Back In Bellator Welterweight Tournament

After a disappointing first round exit of Bellator’s 2010 welterweight tournament, Ryan Thomas has been given a second chance at the 170-pound gold.

Thomas replaces Jim Wallhead against the undefeated Jacob Clintock at Bellator 15 after Wallhead ran into travel problems in his homeland of England due to volcanic ash clouds that have shut down flight travel for the past couple of days.

The callback is most likely a result of the very controversial guillotine choke submission loss Thomas had against former U.S. Olympian Ben Askren on April 15 at Bellator 14. A rematch between the two down the road could prove an interesting turn of events for the eight man tournament.

Prior to the loss earlier this month, Thomas competed in the Ultimate Fighting Championship twice, dropping submission losses to Matt Brown and Ben Saunders. He rebounded with a submission victory of his own against Ryan Stout last August, and is hoping to right the ship again at Bellator 15 against Clintock.
