Rogers joins upcoming Bellator middleweight tourney

Bellator Fighting Championships is beginning to build up their upcoming season five middleweight tournament, as nine-fight veteran Brian Rogers has joined the promotion’s roster to compete in the eight-man competition, according to his camp.

Rogers last fought at “Strikeforce: Feijao vs. Henderson” in March, earning a first round technical knockout victory against Ian Rammel. Prior to that bout, the man nicknamed “The Predator” issued five straight beatings, all ending in first round stoppage.

The Ohio native has not lost since 2009 and has won six consecutive bouts after beginning his career with a 1-2 record in his first three fights.

The tournament will take place entirely during Bellator’s fifth season and features eight fighters. The winner of the three round tourney will earn a total of $100,000 in winnings and also be granted a shot at seemingly untouchable middleweight champion Hector Lombard, who has been dominant in his run with the promotion.
