10 Things We Learned – Strikeforce: Fedor vs. Werdum

The Answer is Fabricio Werdum
Question: Who was the first man to beat Fedor Emelianenko free of controversy?
This is the biggest moment in Werdum’s career – as it should be – and should rightfully re-establish him as a legitimate top 10 heavyweight in the sport. His loss to Junior dos Santos and exit from the UFC has many people detracting from his track record, but the two-time ADCC winner and only man to hold victories over both Emelianenko brothers should surely see his stock climb after upsetting the Russian icon.
A lot of the praise and applause that Werdum deserves is going to be lost in the Fedor fallout, and it’s a shame. Werdum’s execution was perfect, and he capitalized on Emelianenko’s mistake right away, hooking in the triangle choke and adding the armbar for extra measure. While we’re all questioning where Fedor goes from here, be sure to take time to salute Fabricio Werdum.
After all, the guy just beat Fedor.
