Five Fights To Make After UFC 127

Five future fights the UFC should book

B.J. Penn vs. Jon Fitch

The timing of this rematch will ultimately depend on the UFC 129 main event between Georges St. Pierre and Jake Shields. If St. Pierre beats Shields and makes good on Dana White’s promise that he’ll exit the welterweight division in favor of a superfight with Anderson Silva, the chances of Penn and Fitch facing off for a vacant welterweight title will be pretty good. That’s a good thing, in my mind, because the first meeting between the two wasn’t as conclusive as many would have you believe. Nobody likes unfinished business.

Michael Bisping vs. Chael Sonnen

Bisping’s antics at UFC 127 were questionable, and he’s lucky he still has a job. That may change in the coming days, for the moment he’s still under contract to the UFC. The Brit says he wants a shot at the title, but he’s yet to beat an actual top ten middleweight. Luckily for him, Chael Sonnen wants a chance to shut Bisping up once and for all. The trash talk between the two of them would be absolutely epic, and it would give Bisping a chance to prove that he belongs in the middleweight elite.

Brian Ebersole vs. Carlos Condit

Ebersole surprised the world by beating Chris Lytle, so why not pair him up with the man Lytle was originally supposed to face? Ebersole’s whacky fighting style would match perfectly with Condit and the end result would likely be another Fight of the Night candidate for Ebersole.

Dennis Siver vs. Melvin Guillard

Siver’s victory over George Sotiropoulos doesn’t give him the Aussie’s spot near the front of the lightweight title line, but it does put him a lot closer to contention than he was last week. Guillard already owns a victory over Siver back at UFC 86, but neither man is the same fighter at this point.

George Sotiropoulos vs. Evan Dunham

This one is for all of you jiu-jitsu fanatics out there. Both guys are coming off tough losses and both are strongest on the ground. It’s a good bounce-back fight for two fighters who, just a few months ago, were considered can’t miss title contenders.
