Diabate vs. Gustafsson Set For UFC 120

A light heavyweight showdown between Cyrille Diabate and Alexander Gustafsson is set for UFC 120 at London, England’s O2 Arena this fall.

The news was confirmed by MMAjunkie.com, who learned from sources close to the event that bout agreements were nearly finalized.

Diabate made his Octagon debut earlier this year opposite Luiz Cane at UFC 114. The striker was tagged early on by Cane, but managed to regather himself and score the technical knockout victory over an over-aggressive opponent. The victory marked his sixth in a row, having not lost since his 2006 defeat to Mauricio Rua.

Gustafsson began his UFC career at UFC 105 with a quick knockout victory over Jared Hamman. However, a first round submission loss to Phil Davis at UFC 112 has brought the Swedish fighter to 1-1 with the promotion. The loss was his first professional defeat and moved his record to 9-1 with seven of those wins coming by way of knockout.

Diabate vs. Gustafsson is just another match up in a long list of match ups having yet to be confirmed for the event. At this point in time, no fights have been made official for UFC 120 on October 16, but a main event between Yoshihiro Akiyama and Michael Bisping, as well as a co-main event between Dan Hardy and Carlos Condit are expected. The event is also expected to broadcast live and free on Spike TV.
