Maia vs. Miranda, Miller vs. Salter Official For UFC 118

A middleweight bout between Mario Miranda and Demian Maia  and a second 185-pound contest between Dan Miller and John Salter are official for UFC 118 in Boston, Massachusetts.

Maia was originally slated to headline the upcoming “UFC Fight Night” opposite Alan Belcher, but the latter was forced to withdraw due to injury. Shortly following, MMAjunkie.com reported that Miranda would meet Maia, and the bout is now official for the August event’s main card.

Miller, a submission specialist, returns to action on this card looking to snap a three-fight winning streak. Questions circulated about Miller’s potential release from the promotion after his UFC 114 loss to Michael Bisping, but, for now, the middleweight has yet another chance. His opponent, Salter, is coming off a technical knockout victory over Jason MacDonald at UFC 115, which was the middleweight’s first victory in the UFC.

UFC 118 is slated for Boston, Massachusetts on August 28 and features a main event between lightweight champion Frankie Edgar and BJ Penn in a rematch from their UFC 112 contest. Randy Couture will also return on the card against boxing superstar James Toney in the evening’s co-main event.
