UFC Fan Expo Grants Fans Opportunity To Train With MMA Stars

When the UFC heads to Boston, Massachusetts for UFC 118 later this month, the promotion will be putting on yet another Fan Expo to excite and entertain the fans in “Beantown”. However, the fighter meet-and-greets and the hundreds of booths are not the only things fans can anticipate.

The Expo, which runs from August 27 to August 28, will also feature the opportunity for fans to train with some of the sport’s top fighters. On Friday, August 27, former UFC light heavyweight champions Forrest Griffin and Tito Ortiz will be putting on training sessions, while acclaimed striking coach Shawn Tompkins will hold a seminar of his own.

The following day, August 28, prior to the evening’s fight card, which features a lightweight rematch between BJ Penn and champion Frankie Edgar, exciting UFC lightweight Clay Guida and former WEC featherweight champion Urijah Faber will will hold Training and Development sessions for the fans.

“Fans have watched guys like Tito and Forrest coach on “The Ultimate Fighter” and now this is their chance to train with them,” stated UFC president Dana White. “Whether you have been training for a long time or just beginning the sport, there is something for everyone at the Training and Development Sessions. Each one of these guys brings something unique to the table and it makes this a cool experience for fans.”

The Fan Expo is set for August 27 and 28 to coincide with the promotion’s first trip to Boston. UFC 118 will go live on Saturday, August 28, from the TD Garden, featuring the aforementioned lightweight title fight, as well as Randy Couture‘s showdown with famous boxer James Toney.
