Good Defends Belt Against Askren At Bellator 33

Welterweight title bout to headline Bellator 33

A welterweight championship bout has been added to Bellator 33 this October.

The promotion announced today that Bellator champion Lyman Good is set to face off against Ben Askren on the October card.

Askren is coming off the biggest win of his professional career with a victory over Dan Hornbuckle that earned him the top spot in the Bellator season two welterweight tournament and a title shot opposite Good. Askren’s dynamic wrestling ability has led him to an impressive 6-0 record, with four of those wins coming by way of stoppage.

Welterweight champion Good shares one major thing in common with his upcoming opponent. Like Askren, the champion is also undefeated, standing at an impressive 10-0. Good earned the title at Bellator 11 with a technical knockout victory over Omar De Le Cruz. He will defend his 170-pound title for the first time when he meets Askren.

Bellator 33 is rounding out nicely with this addition, as the October 21 card set for Philadelphia, Pennsylvania also includes a lightweight bout between Eddie Alvarez and former UFC fighter Roger Huerta. No other bouts have been finalized for the card.
