TapouT To Sponsor NASCAR Teams

Kevin Harvick Inc. recently announced a sponsorship deal with renown mixed martial arts apparel brand TapouT.

The TapouT logo will make its NASCAR debut at Las Vegas Motor Speedway on March 5 as the primary sponsor on the No. 2 Chevrolet Impala in the Nationwide Series driven by Elliot Sadler.

In addition to the NASCAR Nationwide Series, TapouT will also sponsor the Kevin Harvick Inc. owned No. 2 Chevrolet Silverado in the in the NASCAR Truck Series at the Michigan International Speedway in the upcoming 2011 season.

“We’re excited,” NASCAR driver/owner Kevin Harvick told TapouT Radio. “It’s awesome to be able to see the brand at the racetrack.”

“It’s going to be a lot of fun. We’re looking forward to it. We’re looking forward to the next couple of years, and we’re ready to race,” he added.

MMA and NASCAR have similar demographics and backgrounds.

“A lot of our NASCAR fans are MMA fans, and a lot of MMA fans are NASCAR fans,” said Harvick.

NASCAR and MMA both rose from grassroots followings into mainstream sports catapulted by fights.

It was the 1979 Daytona 500 post-race brawl between NASCAR legends Cale Yarborough and brothers Bobby and Donny Allison that put stock car racing on the public map.

Of course MMA gained national exposure with the debut of the Spike TV reality show “The Ultimate Fighter” in 2005 that featured Forrest Griffin vs. Stephan Bonnar in an epic war in the season’s finale.

The NASCAR sponsorship deal with Kevin Harvick Inc. marks the first venture of the MMA clothing brand outside of mixed martial arts.
