“Strikeforce: Diaz vs. Daley” draws solid ratings

Last weekend’s “Strikeforce: Diaz vs. Daley” Showtime broadcast drew an average of 528,000 viewers, topping out at 806,000.

MMAjunkie.com reported the figures earlier on Tuesday.

The event, which featured a pair of title bouts, was headlined by Nick Diaz‘s championship defense against Paul Daley. In what was arguably the most entertaining round in the history of the promotion, Daley dropped the champion twice, but could not survive late round punishment that forced a stoppage with just seconds remaining in the fight.

Also on the card, lightweight champion Gilbert Melendez dominated Tatsuya Kawajiri in the co-main event, earning a first round technical knockout victory, while Gegard Mousasi and Keith Jardine fought to a draw. Shinya Aoki‘s submission over Lyle Beerbohm also made the Showtime broadcast.

Overall, the ratings come in at fourth best all-time for a Showtime broadcast of Strikeforce. Diaz continues to prove one of the promotion’s biggest draws.
