Sanchez, three others join UFC Expo grappling competition
UFC welterweight Diego Sanchez is among four individuals who will compete in a grappling tournament at the UFC Fan Expo in Toronto prior to UFC 129 later this month.
UFC officials announced the men participating earlier today.
Sanchez will take on Andrew McInnes in the opening round of the four-man tournament, while Ryan Hall will face off against Jorge Britto in the opening action on April 29. The two finalists will meet the following day, just hours prior to the highly-anticipated UFC 129, which features a main event between welterweight champion Georges St. Pierre and Jake Shields.
“The UFC Fan Expo will feature some great matches between some of the best grapplers in the world,” UFC president Dana White stated in an official release. “I’m really excited to see Diego Sanchez compete and try to win the tournament. He’s always really tough on the ground and he has a ton of heart.”
The grappling tournament will be held by Grapplers Quest, while the Fan Expo will be operated by Reed Exhibitions.
