Thiago last fought at UFC 121 against Diego Sanchez, losing to “The Dream” in Anaheim, California. The loss was his second in a row, with the other coming against Martin Kampmann at UFC 115. The Brazilian submission ace has lost three of his last five bouts after beginning his career with 11 straight wins.
His upcoming opponent is a similar case to Thiago, as he also began his career 11-0 before losing for the first time. He last competed at “UFC Fight Night: Marquardt vs. Palhares,” losing via unanimous decision to T.J. Waldburger.
UFC 134 is set for Rio de Janeiro, Brazil on August 27 and features a middleweight title fight between champion Anderson Silva and top contender Yushin Okami. A light heavyweight bout between Mauricio Rua and Forrest Griffin will also be a featured bout at the event.
