Report: Strikeforce Targeting July 30 Card In Chicago

Strikeforce is heading back to Chicago

Strikeforce is targeting July 30 for a major Showtime-televised event that will likely take place at the Sears Centre in Chicago.

That’s according to MMAjunkie.com, who issued the report last night.

A light heavyweight bout between Dan Henderson and Fedor Emelianenko is currently being targeted as the main event of the evening. The bout was being discussed as a potential headliner for the first Strikeforce pay per view event, but those plans have been put on hold.

UFC CEO Lorenzo Fertitta has been hard at work in putting the Henderson/Emelianenko fight. UFC President Dana White told the media he’s not involved in the process. “Lorenzo’s working on it,” White said. “Me getting anywhere near that thing? You’ll never see that fight.”

Henderson won the Strikeforce light heavyweight belt from Rafael Cavalcante in his last bout, while Emelianenko will attempt to recover after suffering consecutive losses for the first time in his career.
