“Countdown To UFC 133” is set to debut on Spike TV tonight at 11 p.m. ET.
The preview show, the latest addition to the long-running series, will preview the light heavyweight main event between former light heavyweight champions Rashad Evans and Tito Ortiz.
Evans was originally expected to fight for the title in his next contest after defeating Quinton “Rampage” Jackson at UFC 114. But an injury to champion Jon Jones forced the cancellation of the bout, causing prospect Phil Davis to step in against Evans. An injury to Davis, however, had the UFC turning to the likes of Lyoto Machida and Ortiz in search of a late replacement, but the latter was the one who finally agreed to take the bout.
Ortiz last fought at UFC 132 in a must-win contest against Ryan Bader. Ortiz earned his first victory since 2006 with a first round submission over the former “Ultimate Fighter” winner.
