Tavares now meets Jacoby in Vegas

A middleweight contest between Brad Tavares and Dustin Jacoby is now official, as Jacoby has stepped in for an injured Tim Credeur.

The UFC confirmed that match up earlier today.

Tavares, a cast member from season 11 of “The Ultimate Fighter,” sits at 2-1 as a UFC employee, having earned victories over Seth Baczynski and Phil Baroni in his first two bouts with the promotion. But he fell short in his last contest against Aaron Simpson at UFC 132, losing via unanimous decision. That defeat was the first of his professional career.

Now, Tavares looks to explode back into the win column against a man who is a perfect 6-0 as a mixed martial artist. Jacoby has fought in smaller promotions throughout his short six-fight career, but has finished all those fights. In fact, he has only seen the second round on one occasion.

The middleweight contest will be one of seven preliminary card fights leading up to the UFC 137 main card, which is headlined by a welterweight title contest between champion Georges St. Pierre and top contender Carlos Condit. The event will take place in Las Vegas, Nevada on October 29 at the Mandalay Bay Events Center.
