UFC newcomer Soto replaces injured Eduardo
With original opponent Johnny Eduardo scratched from the event due to a shoulder injury, Michael “Mayday” McDonald will now meet undefeated promotional newcomer Alex Soto at UFC 139.
The event takes place Nov. 19 in San Jose, Ca and is headlined by a light heavyweight bout between Dan Henderson and Mauricio “Shogun” Rua.
HeavyMMA.com confirmed the switch with sources close to the event after McDonald tweeted about the change on Wednesday morning.
McDonald is undefeated since joining the Zuffa organization. He defeated Chris Cariaso in his last appearance at UFC 130 in May.
Soto is a former military veteran who has frequented the California MMA scene for most of his career, but also has an appearance for Japan’s DEEP promotion.
