Heavyweights meet on March 24 pay-per-view

A pair of heavyweights looking to rebound from upset losses have agreed to meet at UFC 145 in March.

Brendan Schaub and Ben Rothwell have verbally agreed to fight when the UFC returns to  Montreal. UFC officials announced the fight Tuesday night.

Schaub (8-2, 4-2 UFC) had his four-fight winning streak snapped in August with an upset loss to Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira at UFC 134 in Rio de Janeiro. Prior to that, the veteran of Season 10 of “The Ultimate Fighter” had knockout wins over Chase Gormley and Chris Tuchscherer, a decision win over Gabriel Gonzaga and a Knockout of the Night win over Mirko “Cro Cop” Filipovic. Schaub reached the finals of TUF 10, but lost by knockout to Roy Nelson – the first setback of his MMA career.

Rothwell (31-8, 1-2 UFC) in September lost a unanimous decision to Mark Hunt at UFC 135 in Denver. That was his first fight in more than a year. Following his first UFC win, a decision over Gilbert Yvel at UFC 115, Rothwell had surgery for a torn ACL, keeping him on the shelf. The Duke Roufus-trained Wisconsin native, who has been fighting professionally for more than 10 years, was a veteran of the IFL and short-lived Affliction promotion before signing with the UFC.

Though the UFC has not yet announced the venue for UFC 145, it is expected to take place March 24 at the Bell Centre in Montreal. Other announced fights for the card are a welterweight bout between Rory MacDonald and Che Mills and a heavyweight contest between Travis Browne and recent Strikeforce import Chad Griggs.
