Matyushenko replaces Hollett, meets Hamill in Toronto

An injury has forced Roger Hollett out of his UFC 152 fight against Matt Hamill, and veteran Vladimir Matyushenko will step in as a replacement to welcome “The Hammer” back to fighting.

The Ultimate Fighting Championship announced the news today.

Hamill elected to retire after losing consecutive contests back in 2011. He was defeated by former light heavyweight champion Quinton “Rampage” Jackson and contender Alexander Gustafsson during that losing streak.

Meanwhile, Matyushenko also lost to Gustafsson in his last fight. He met the talented fighter in December of last year, losing via technical knockout.

UFC 152 takes place on September 22 in Toronto and features a flyweight title fight between contenders Demetrious Johnson and Joseph Benavidez. The winner will become the first-ever UFC 125 lb. champion.
