Contender Kennedy returns in Nov.
A middleweight bout between Trevor Smith and Tim Kennedy is set for Strikeforce’s November event.
Officials announced the bout this week.
The card was originally titled “Strikeforce: Cormier vs. Mir,” but an injury to Frank Mir canceled those plans.
However, Daniel Cormier will stay on the card, which takes place on November 3 in Oklahoma City.
Kennedy last fought this summer for the middleweight title, losing to Luke Rockhold via unanimous decision. He also lost to Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza three fights prior, falling short on the judges’ scorecards in their vacant middleweight title fight.
Meanwhile, Smith has compiled a record of 10-2 as a professional, but was defeated in his last Strikeforce fight. He is 2-1 overall with the promotion.
