Dennis Hallman Released By UFC, Cites Family Matters

Dennis Hallman

Hallman released on the eve of “UFC on FX 5”

UFC veteran Dennis Hallman is no longer a Zuffa employee.

Earlier today, Hallman was allegedly a whopping seven pounds overweight just one day prior to his “UFC on FX 5” bout against Thiago Tavares. Neither of the lightweights hit the scale.

Later in the evening, Hallman received his walking papers, though not before walking away with a nice payday.

The longtime vet was paid both his show and win money, according to MMAjunkie.com. Hallman also told the website that he had “some serious family matters” to attend to.

Hallman also spoke with MMAFighting.com, stating that UFC president Dana White gave him the show and win money to help Hallman “deal with the mountain” before him. He also said that he wasn’t in the right state to fight, presumably mental, along with the physical aspect, and that White understood.

Hallman was 3-1 in his last four UFC contests.
