Countdown to UFC 143: Diaz vs. Condit Premieres Tonight on Fuel TV

Carlos Condit

Show airs Tuesday at 9 p.m. Eastern

Fans have one more option to get schooled on Saturday’s UFC 143 pay-per-view. “Countdown to UFC 143” airs Tuesday at 9 p.m. Eastern on Fuel TV.

The UFC 143 pay-per-view, which features an interim welterweight title fight between former Strikeforce champion Nick Diaz and Carlos Condit, has also gotten a three-part “Primetime” treatment. The first two episodes of that show aired the last two weeks; the third installment will air Friday night.

Diaz and Condit have had a roller-coaster ride toward their main event at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas. Diaz was originally booked to face champion Georges St-Pierre in October. But Diaz missed a pair of press conferences and was pulled from the fight by Dana White and replaced by Condit.

But when St-Pierre was injured, Condit elected to wait for his title shot, and Diaz faced BJ Penn in the main event at UFC 137. After Diaz’s dominant win, White called Condit and asked him to wait once more – so Diaz could fight St-Pierre. Condit agreed. But when St-Pierre again was hurt last month, Diaz and Condit were booked for Saturday’s interim title fight since St-Pierre is likely to be sidelined much of 2012.

Also on Saturday’s UFC 143 card, and featured on the “Countdown” show, Fabricio Werdum returns to the UFC to face TUF 10 winner Roy Nelson, and Josh Koscheck meets Mike Pierce.
