Complete UFC Fight Night 24 results
Seattle, Wa. – HeavyMMA.com is live and on the scene for tonight’s “UFC Fight Night 24: Nogueira vs. Davis” event at the KeyArena.
We’ll be providing complete results for all preliminary and main card bouts.
The card is headlined by a light heavyweight bout between PRIDE legend Antonio Rogerio Nogueira and former NCAA wrestling champion (and top divisional prospect) Phil Davis.
WAYLON LOWE vs. NIK LENTZ
These two lightweight wrestlers must have read the writing on the wall. While each man spent time working from top position on the ground,Lowe and Lentz stood toe-to-toe for good stretches, much to the delight of the vocal Seattle crowd.
Both men showed off improved hands and a willingness to trade that has been missing in the past. After an impressive back-and-forth for the first 12 minutes, Lowe dropped for takedown, leaving his neck exposed in the process.
Lentz wasted little time wrapping up a tight guillotine, and while Lowe tried to squeeze his head out, the choke was too deep and he was forced to tap.

MARIO MIRANDA vs. AARON SIMPSON
Simpson went back to basics in this middleweight contest, out working Miranda throughout on the way to a unanimous decision victory.
The former Arizona State Sun Devil used a strong clinch and a series of powerful slams to collect a clean sweep of the scorecards. While not the flashiest outing, Simpson was dominate from the start and gets back into the win column after back-to-back losses to Chris Leben and Mark Munoz.

JOHNY HENDRICKS vs. TJ WALDBURGER
The punching power of Hendricks was on display once again, as the former Oklahoma State wrestling standout dropped Waldburger with a hard left just 1:35 into the opening round.
For the third time in his five UFC victories, Hendricks ended the fight with his constantly improving hands. Using his wrestling base to fend off an early takedown attempt, the 10-1 Team Takedown fighter responded to a heavy kick to the body with a pair of blows, the first wobbling Waldburger and the second sealing the deal.

SEAN MCCORKLE vs. CHRISTIAN MORECRAFT
After coming up short in his UFC debut, Morecraft looked impressive in his second outing, putting McCorkle to sleep with a standing guillotine at 4:10 of the second round.
The young heavyweight fighting out of Ithaca, New York was comfortable enough in the opening round to pick up his mouthguard in between elbowing McCorkle. While his technique remains in need of refinement, Morecraft showed progress with this win, measuring his shots and maintaining his gas tank much better than he did against Stefan Struve in his first trip to the Octagon.

MICHAEL MCDONALD vs. EDWIN FIGUEROA
The youngest fighter in the UFC continued to impress, as highly touted bantamweight prospect McDonald showed his full arsenal inn entertaining win over the previously unbeaten Figueroa.
McDonald showcased improved hands, starching Figueroa at the close of the first round, and worked for numerous submissions during a dominant second frame. The third was more offense from McDonald, who showed why many people feel the 20-year-old has a bright future in the UFC.
Figueroa showed tremendous heart, battling throughout after taking the fight on very short notice. He’ll definitely be back in the Octagon after a spirited performance in this one.

JOHN HATHAWAY vs. KRIS MCCRAY
This welterweight struggle was a study in the importance of staying active. A very close affair that saw both fighters have their moments, Hathaway kept working no matter the position and took home a split decision win over TUF 11 finalist McCray.
While the Briton delivered blows regardless of where he was, McCray spent too much time stuck in Hathaway’s guard, failing to muster enough offense to sway the deciding vote in his favor.

ALEX CACERES vs. MACKENS SEMERZIER
“Bruce Leeroy” smiled throughout, but “Mack Da Menace” returned to the win column with a first round submission win over the former Ultimate Fighter contestant.
Semerzier dominated from the start, scoring a couple solid takedowns before transitioning from mount to Caceres’s back. From there, the one-time Marine remained patient, flattened out his young opponent and sunk in the choke.
It was a much-needed win for the former WEC competitor, putting an end to a three-fight losing streak.

JON MADSEN vs. MIKE RUSSOW
A bout that took a lot of heat from the fans ended unexpectedly while the fighters were on their stools between the second and third round. With Madsen’s left eye closing up, the doctor waved off the fight, earning Russow his second UFC win.
It was grimy fight with the fighters spending a lot of time pressed into the cage, much to the displeasure of the tremendous audience here in Seattle. With the win, Russow could find himself in another bout with a former TUF 10 cast member later this year; Matt Mitrione seems to make sense at this point.
