Penne becomes first-ever Invicta FC atomweight champ
The Ultimate Fighting Championship had Saturday night off, but MMA fans still had a way to get their fix thanks to the ladies of “Invicta FC 3.”
The event took place Saturday evening in Kansas City, Kansas, featuring a total of 14 fights. Six fights took place on the undercard, while eight took place on the main card.
The headliner for the October 6 card was a special one as the bout was the first title fight in the promotion’s history.
Jessica Penne matched up against Naho Sugiyama for the Invicta FC atomweight title. Penne earned a second round submission to become the first-ever Invicta FC champion.
In the evening’s co-main event, Shayna Baszler met Sarah D’Alelio. The former earned a second round submission win.
The remainder of the main card featured two technical knockouts, one submission, and three decision victories. The card as a whole had just four fights that went to decision, meaning 10 of 14 fights ended within three rounds.
