Strikeforce light heavyweight champion Gegard Mousasi has confirmed that he will return to the promotion for a title defense on the Nov. 7 “Strikeforce: Fedor vs. Rogers” card in Chicago.
Mousasi defeated Renato “Babalu” Sobral in one emphatic minute on the undercard of Strikeforce: Carano vs. Cyborg to capture the light heavyweight championship. Mousasi is considered by many to be one of the top prospects in the world, regardless of weight class.
Speculation regarding Mousasi’s opponent for the Nov. 7 card center around two possibilities: Rameau Thierry Sokoudjou and Paulo Filho.
The card, which airs live on CBS, marks the return of mixed martial arts to network television for the first time since the demise of EliteXC.
