Dan Henderson revealed on MMA Live today that he’d be fighting Jake Shields for the Strikeforce middleweight title on CBS in April.
The news isn’t surprising. The bout has been rumored since the moment Henderson signed a four-fight deal with Strikeforce in December after failing to come to terms with the UFC. Henderson’s comments on the ESPN show seemingly indicated that the Shields bout is a done deal.
Not so fast, says Strikeforce. Sources close to the promotion confirmed to Heavy.com this afternoon that the Henderson/Shields bout is under consideration and is likely to happen, but has not been finalized. In fact, bout agreements have yet to be distributed to the fighters.
