Healy gets chance on big Showtime telecast
Pat Healy will replace the injured Josh Thomson and face promotional newcomer Maximo Blanco at “Strikeforce Grand Prix: Barnett vs. Kharitonov.”
Promotion officials announced the replacement overnight. Blanco vs. Healy will take place on the Showtime-televised card.
The event takes place Sept. 10 at the U.S. Bank Arena in Cincinnati.
Blanco, the former King of Pancrase, is currently in the midst of a six-fight win streak, while Healy scored his most recent win over Eric Wisely at Strikeforce Challengers 18. It was his fifth win in six fights.
