Gonzaga vs. Dos Santos Announced for Fight Night 21

A heavyweight contender tilt between Gabrial Gonzaga and Junior dos Santos has been added to UFC Fight Night 21.

The bout, which will serve as the co-main event of the UFC’s debut on Versus, was officially revealed by the UFC this morning. Gonzaga and dos Santos were originally scheduled to square off at UFC 108 in December, but Gonzaga was forced to withdraw due to a staph infection. Dos Santos instead faced feared striker Gilbert Yvel and earned a first round knockout.

Gonzaga was a contender for the UFC heavyweight championship in 2007, losing via TKO to Randy Couture.

Neither Gonzaga nor Dos Santos has ever gone to a decision in a professional fight.

UFC Fight Night 21 is headlined by a light heavyweight bout between Brandon Vera and rising prospect Jon “Bones” Jones. It will take place Mar. 21 in Broomfield, Co. Tickets go on sale tomorrow.
