“UFC Prelim” Special Returns for UFC 109 With Two Bouts

Next month’s “UFC Prelim” broadcast for UFC 109 will feature Mac Danzig (18-7-1) vs. Justin Buchholz (8-4) and Melvin Guillard (22-8-2) vs. Ronnys Torres (14-1).

Spike TV officials confirmed the broadcast on Tuesday afternoon. It will air on Feb. 6 at 9 p.m. ET, one hour before the PPV broadcast of UFC 109 begins.

Danzig has suffered three consecutive losses and will need a victory over Buchholz to avoid being dropped from his UFC contract. Buchholz also finds himself in a must-win situation after running his UFC record to 1-3.

Guillard and Torres were originally scheduled to meet in April 2009. Torres suffered a severe knee injury, however, and was forced to pull out of the bout. Nearly one year later, he’ll finally make his UFC debut. Guillard has been training with Greg Jackson in preparation for the fight.

The “UFC Prelim” specials are typically scheduled to show only two fights, but quick finishes to the scheduled bouts usually result in three or more bouts being shown.
