Jackson vs. Nogueira Reportedly In The Works For UFC 119

Fresh off the main card of UFC 114 back in May, UFC light heavyweights Quinton “Rampage” Jackson and Antonio Rogerio Nogueira will possibly meet on the main card of UFC 119 this September.

Nogueira’s trainer, Luis Carlos Dorea, speaking with Brazilian outlet Tatame.com, said that Nogueira will be back in September and that Jackson is the likely opponent.

“It’s set that he’ll be back in September, and rumors point that his opponent might be Quinton Jackson,” Dorea said. “It’d be a great fight for Rogério, he’s a former UFC champion and a victory over him will move us pretty close to the title.”

Nogueira is rolling off a tight split-decision victory over Jason Brilz at UFC 114, while Jackson dropped a unanimous decision to his nemesis Rashad Evans in the main event of the evening. The loss snapped Jackson’s two-fight winning streak, while Nogueira’s win landed him his second in a row with the promotion.

UFC 119 is slated for September 25 at the Conseco Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, IN. The card has no confirmed bouts as of yet, but a lightweight match up between Melvin Guillard and Jeremy Stephens is in the making, along with a heavyweight bout between Matt Mitrione and Joey Beltran.
