UFC Grants Dan Miller Another Chance

Entering his fight against Michael Bisping at UFC 114, Dan Miller’s back was up against the wall.

The middleweight had dropped consecutive losses in the 185-pound division to Chael Sonnen and Demian Maia. Unfortunately for the jiu-jitsu ace, he dropped his third consecutive loss when Bisping defeated him on points at the May 29 event. The loss had Miller’s career with the UFC at risk, but according to a source close to the fighter, the promotion has granted the struggling fighter another chance inside the Octagon. The news was reported by MMAjunkie.com earlier today.

Miller, the last middleweight champion of the now defunct International Fight League, began his career in the UFC with a submission victory over Rob Kimmons and followed the victory with two more consecutive wins over Matt Horwich and Jake Rosholt. But he now stands an even 3-3 with the promotion following the losses to three of the top fighters in the 185-pound division. The three-fight losing streak includes a loss to a former top contender in Maia, the current middleweight top contender, and an “Ultimate Fighter” winner. The level of competition Miller has faced seems to have earned him one final opportunity to keep his job with mixed martial arts’ top promotion.
