Zuffa, LLC Files Lawsuit Against Bellator, Ken Pavia

Bellator Fighting Championships will not enter its third season before dealing with some controversy, as Zuffa, LLC has filed a lawsuit against MMA Agents’ Ken Pavia and the organization.

Yahoo! Sports’ Kevin Iole broke the news, reporting that the UFC‘s parent company is filing the suit over allegations that suggest Pavia of revealing “trade secrets and confidential Zuffa documents”.

The allegations stem from several Email’s sent between Bellator CEO Bjorn Rebney and Pavia, including Rebney stating, “You’ve been great about sending us ‘All’ the seminal docs from the UFC, so that we can re-do them and implement them for Bellator.”

Rebney continued in the Email, “Please list each in terms of what it is for and how the UFC uses them/implements them. … Then I’m going to have our team on Monday re-type them and we will sufficiently alter them such that they will appear to be ours and not theirs.”

Pavia’s response to the Email conversation, which is included in the lawsuit, was rather terse. He stated that he was still in Las Vegas, that he needed 24 hours to “organize some forms”, and suggested Rebney should “go to the guys in (his) office”.

The lawsuit was officially filed Wednesday with the Clark County District Court. Zuffa hopes for actual damages, as well as punitive damages, and wishes an injunction be brought against Pavia and Bellator, preventing the two from using assets belonging to Zuffa.
