Jon Jones vs. Ryan Bader Rumored For UFC 127

UFC 127
A light heavyweight match up between top prospects Jon Jones and Ryan Bader is allegedly in the works for UFC 127 this February.

MMAjunkie.com received word of the match up from sources close to the event.

Bader’s last time inside the Octagon was not the most exhilarating of performances, but he was still successful in defeating veteran Antonio Rogerio Nogueira by unanimous decision. The victory pushed Bader’s professional record to 13-0. He holds notable wins over former contender Keith Jardine and Vinny Magalhaes, the fighter who he defeated to earn the title of “The Ultimate Fighter”.

Bader’s opponent – whom  many believe has all the makings of a future champion – does not boast an undefeated record or the title of “The Ultimate Fighter”, but his level of dominance at such a young age has been rather astounding. In his last two contests, Jones decimated both Vladimir Matyushenko and Brandon Vera in the first round. If not for a disqualification due to illegal strikes against Matt Hamill in a fight he was clearly dominating, Jones would still be undefeated.

The light heavyweight contest undoubtedly holds title implications, as the UFC faces off two of the most promising prospects in the entire sport. The bout is set for UFC 127 on February 5 in Las Vegas, Nevada. The match up seems fit for the co-main event slot on a card rumored to be headlined by a middleweight contest between champion Anderson Silva and Vitor Belfort.
