UFC 123: Five Fighters Get Medical Suspensions

Five fighters from Saturday’s UFC 123 event have been issued medical suspensions, and two of them are out indefinitely.

George Sotiropoulos, who submitted Joe Lauzon in the second round of their main card fight, has been suspended indefinitely after getting poked in the eye. Sotiropoulos was sent to the hospital after the fight, but said at the post-fight press conference that no permanent damage was done.

Sotiropoulos has been booked to face Dennis Siver at February’s UFC 127 event in Sydney.

Mike Lullo, who was decimated by newcomer Edson Barboza in a preliminary-card bout, will also be suspended indefinitely after being knocked out of the fight by Barboza’s vicious leg kicks. Lullo must have his thigh and knee cleared by a doctor before he’s able to resume training.

Sotiropoulos and Lullo will be suspended a minimum of 30 days for precautionary measures.

Other suspensions:

Matt Hughes: Suspended 60 days with no contact
Karo Parisyan: Suspended 30 days with no contact
T.J. O’Brien: Suspended 30 days with no contact
