Former top WEC lightweight contender Shane Roller will make his Octagon debut against UFC veteran Thiago Tavares at UFC on Versus 3.
Heavy.com confirmed the story with sources close to the promotion on Tuesday morning. MMAJunkie.com first reported the story.
UFC on Versus 3 is expected to take place March 3 in Louisville, Ky, but has yet to be officially announced by the promotion. The event will be headlined by a welterweight bout between Diego Sanchez and Martin Kampmann.
Roller ended his WEC run in style, submitting Jamie Varner earlier this month at WEC 53. He’ll enter the UFC having won four of his previous five fights, with the only loss coming at the hands of final WEC lightweight champion Anthony Pettis.
Tavares is unbeaten in his last three fights.
