Pettis vs. Guida official, likely for “The Ultimate Fighter 13 Finale”

A lightweight tilt between former WEC champion Anthony Pettis and Clay Guida is official, according to UFC president Dana White.

White announced the bout earlier today, though a date has yet to be announced for the match up. HeavyMMA.com was the first to report the contest earlier this month.

Pettis, whose WEC career ended with a unanimous decision win over Benson Henderson to earn the WEC 155 lb. crown at WEC 53, was originally set to meet the winner of Frankie Edgar vs. Gray Maynard, but a draw in their UFC 125 bout has forced a third fight between the two lightweights. Pettis then decided to fight again before fighting for the title.

Guida, however, is still attempting to earn his shot at the title. The exciting fighter earned a victory in his latest outing, defeating Takanori Gomi by submission at UFC 125. The win was his third submission victory in as many fights and he know has fought his way into the upper tier of the highly competitive lightweight division.

While no date has been set for the bout, MMAjunkie.com has reported that “The Ultimate Fighter 13 Finale” will be the event at which this contest takes place. No bouts have been made official for the contest, but the lightweight contest will likely serve as the main event.
