Sakara vs. Weidman officially announced

A middleweight bout between Alessio Sakara and Chris Weidman is official for March.

The promotion announced the 185 lb. match up earlier today. HeavyMMA.com first reported that Weidman would be stepping in for the injured Rafael Natal earlier this week.

Sakara, who has lost several opponents due to injury, is currently on a three-fight winning streak with the promotion. Most recently, he defeated James Irvin by technical knockout at “UFC on Versus: Vera vs. Jones.”

His opponent, Weidman, is set to make his UFC debut on March 3. The “Ring of Combat” veteran is a perfect 4-0 as a professional mixed martial artist and boasts an impressive NCAA wrestling career. He has won two of his fights via knockout, one by submission, and his latest victory came via unanimous decision.

“UFC on Versus 3” is set for the KFC Yum! Center in Louisville, Kentucky and features a main event between welterweight Martin Kampmann and Diego Sanchez. The card will be broadcast live on Versus.
