Cerrone meets Danzig this June

A lightweight tilt between WEC veteran Donald Cerrone and former “Ultimate Fighter” winner Mac Danzig is official for UFC 131.

The Ultimate Fighting Championship announced the booking earlier today.

Danzig, who struggled to live up to expectations after winning season six of “The Ultimate Fighter,” found redemption in two of his last three bouts, earning a unanimous decision victory over Justin Buchholz at UFC 109 and knocking out Joe Stevenson at UFC 124. His last defeat was a controversial one, coming against Matt Wiman at UFC 115.

Like his upcoming opponent, Cerrone will also enter the cage this June coming off a win. The always entertaining fighter debuted in the UFC after a long and successful stint in the WEC with a submission victory over Paul Kelly at UFC 126. The man nicknamed “Cowboy” is currently on a three fight winning streak.

The 155 lb. contest will likely find a home on the preliminary card of the June 11 event, which is set for Rogers Arena in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. The card will feature a heavyweight clash between former champion Brock Lesnar and knockout artist Junior dos Santos.
