Michael Bisping, Chael Sonnen Possible TUF 14 Coaches

Mercurial middleweights could serve as Ultimate Fighter 14 coaches

Brash middleweights Chael Sonnen and Michael Bisping are the top options to coach the next season of “The Ultimate Fighter.”

Dave Meltzer of The Wrestling Observer Newsletter reported the news last Thursday, and HeavyMMA.com has confirmed that Bisping and Sonnen are the two top choices for the coaching vacancies.

Bisping, who has been involved with controversy for essentially his entire UFC career, is coming off a technical knockout victory over his rival, Jorge Rivera. The victory did not go over smoothly. Bisping spat at his opponent’s coaches following the stoppage, triggering wide-ranging responses from Dana White and several current UFC middleweights. White felt strongly enough about Bisping’s actions that he refrained from awarding Bisping the usual post-fight bonus.

Meanwhile, Sonnen is dealing with problems outside of the cage, addressing legal issues, as well as a suspension due to a failed drug test. He last competed at UFC 117, losing to middleweight champion Anderson Silva via submission in the final round of their championship bout. Sonnen has not competed since the disappointing loss and pleaded guilty to federal money laundering charges in January.
