Figueroa meets Reinhardt in August

A bantamweight bout between Edwin Figueroa and Jason Reinhardt is official for “UFC on Versus 5” this August.

The promotion announced the fight earlier today.

With a perfect 6-0 record entering his UFC debut back at “UFC Fight Night 24,” Figueroa failed to continue his unbeaten streak, losing via unanimous decision to Michael McDonald. The bout also marked the first time Figueroa fought to the judges’ decision, as all six of his prior bouts ended by first or second round stoppage.

Much like his upcoming opponent, Reinhardt has won a great more fights than he has lost, boasting a professional record of 20-2. All 20 of his victories have come by way of stoppage, while his two losses came via submission against Joe Lauzon and Tiequan Zhang at UFC 78 and UFC 127, respectively.

“With 20 wins, Reinhardt has never gone the distance, and Figueroa is coming off a sensational ‘Fight of the Night’ performance against Michael McDonald,” said UFC president Dana White in the official press release after revealing the fighters had verbally agreed to the contest.

The 135 lb. bout finds a slot on the preliminary portion of the August 14 event, which will broadcast live on Versus. The card includes a welterweight bout between Dan Hardy and Chris Lytle, along with a lightweight match up between former WEC champion Ben Henderson and contender Jim Miller.
