Top welterweights face off
The UFC has confirmed that welterweights Jake Shields and Jake Ellenberger will face off in the headlining bout of “UFC Fight Night 25.”
The event takes place Sept. 17 at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center in New Orleans. It will air on Spike TV.
Both fighters last appeared at UFC 129. Shields went down in a losing effort to champion Georges St. Pierre in the main event, but became the first fighter in several years to even win a round from St. Pierre. Prior to the loss, Shields had strung together 15 straight wins.
Ellenberger – who is riding a four-fight winning streak – knocked out Sean Pierson. He is 8-1 in his last nine contests.
