Hamill replaces Matyushenko, faces Gustafsson at UFC 133

UFC light heavyweight Matt Hamill will replace an injured Vladimir Matyushenko against Alexander Gustafsson at UFC 133.

Officials from the promotion announced the change earlier today.

Hamill will enter this fight coming off the biggest bout of his career. He faced off against former champion Quinton “Rampage” Jackson in the main event of UFC 130, but lost a lopsided unanimous decision. The loss snapped a five-fight winning streak, which included victories over Keith Jardine and Tito Ortiz, among others.

Meanwhile, Gustafsson enters this contest with back-to-back rear naked choke submission wins over James Te-Huna and Cyrille Diabate. Prior the those two victories, however, he was defeated by Phil Davis at UFC 112, marking the first time he exited the cage with a loss as a professional.

UFC 133 is set for August 6 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and features a light heavyweight bout between Rashad Evans and the aforementioned Ortiz. Hamill and Gustafsson’s fight will be televised on Spike TV.
