UFC Contract Extensions for Ben Henderson and Carlos Condit

Carlos Condit and Ben Henderson have signed contract extensions with the UFC. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Both men are former WEC champions and currently sit at or near the top of the list of contenders in their respective divisions.

After losing a razor-thin split decision in his UFC debut, Condit has rattled off four consecutive victories, all of which have been exciting affairs. After battling back to finish Rory MacDonald at UFC 115 last summer in Vancouver, Condit followed up with a first-round knockout of Dan Hardy at UFC 120. He most recently handed Dong Hyun Kim the first loss of his career at UFC 132 courtesy of a perfectly-placed flying knee.

Condit is scheduled to face BJ Penn next month at UFC 137 in a bout many believe will determine the next challenger for the welterweight title.

Though he’s made less than half as many trips to the Octagon as his fellow WEC alum, Henderson has been just as impressive.

Debuting at UFC 129, the former WEC lightweight champion put in a workmanlike effort in securing a victory over hometown favorite Mark Bocek in Toronto, but it’s what he did for an encore that has propelled Henderson to the top of the list of 155 pound contenders.

Three weeks ago in Milwaukee, the 27-year-old product of the MMA Lab in Glendale, Arizona dominated then-#1 contender Jim Miller, claiming a unanimous decision victory in the co-main event of the UFC on Versus 5 show. In the wake of his emphatic performance, many have suggested that Henderson should replace Miller atop the rankings or meet fellow contender Clay Guida to determine who is next in line to fight for the lightweight title.
