Bantamweights both suffered injuries late in training camp

The 135 pound contest between Norifumi “Kid” Yamamoto and Damacio Page set for UFC 135 later this month has been scratched from the lineup. Both fighters were looking to rebound from poor showings in their respective UFC debuts.

Yamamoto, one of the most popular fighters to ever come out of Japan, was dominated by Demetrious “Mighty Mouse” Johnson at UFC 126, while Page was submitted by Brian Bowles for the second time when they met at UFC on Versus 3: Sanchez vs. Kampmann back in March.

No specifics about the nature of the injuries sustained by each fighter have been made available at this time.

UFC 135 takes place on September 24 in Denver, Colorado and is headlined by the light heavyweight title clash between Jon Jones and Quinton “Rampage” Jackson. This fight was scheduled as part of the preliminary portion of the event and would have aired as one of the fights streamed on the UFC’s Facebook page.

This is the second bout to be scrapped from the line-up in recent weeks.

After Manny Gamburyan was forced out of his featherweight contest with Diego Nunes due to injuries, Nunes himself withdrew earlier in the week citing his own injuries and personal issues in his native Brazil. That bout has subsequently been replaced on the card by a meeting between UFC newcomer and Tachi Palace Fights Eddie Yagin and the returning Junior Assuncao.
