Terry Etim Returns, Faces Edson Barboza At UFC 142

British prospect returns to the cage in Brazil

Terry Etim isn’t wasting much time in getting back into the cage.

Fresh off his 17-second submission win over Edward Faaloloto at last weekend’s UFC 138 event, Etim will jump right back into training camp to prepare for a bout against Edson Barboza at UFC 142.

UFC officials today announced the bout for the event, which takes place in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil on Jan. 14. The headlining bout will see featherweight champ Jose Aldo defend his title against Chad Mendes.

As mentioned, Etim returned to the cage after a 19-month layoff to beat Faaloloto via guillotine choke. He earned a $70,000 Submission of the Night bonus for the win, and Dana White said after the event that he already had an opponent in mind for Etim’s next bout.

Barboza has not competed since defeating Ross Pearson at UFC 134 in Brazil.
