Weekend Roundup: Zaromskis Somersaults, Huerta Loses

Jon "War Machine" Koppenhaver

Koppenhaver scores win in return from prison

– The artist formerly known as Jon Koppenhaver – now known, at least legally-speaking, as War Machine – scored a third-round TKO win over former UFC lightweight prospect Roger Huerta in the main event of Ultimate Warrior Fighting 1 in Pharr, Texas. Koppenhaver was a cast member on the sixth season of The Ultimate Fighter and recently completed a one-year stint at the George Bailey Detention Facility after being convicted of felony assault. The win was Koppenhaver’s first since leaving prison. The loss is Huerta’s third straight.

– Giant Polish strongman Mariusz Pudzianowski somehow earned a unanimous decision in a two-round fight over James Thompson in the main event of Saturday’s KSW 17 event in Poland. Thompson clearly won the first round and should have forced an overtime bout, but Pudzianowski was awarded a majority decision win. Thompson was understandably upset after the fight.

– Marius Zaromskis used a highlight-reel somersault head kick to knock Bruno Carvalho to the canvas before finishing him with brutal punches on the ground. Check out the video below.
