Franklin, Silva lock horns again at UFC 147
Former middleweight champion Rich Franklin has stepped in for an injured Vitor Belfort at UFC 147 this June.
Franklin and Wanderlei Silva will now meet in a rematch from their UFC 99 main event bout in Germany.
Originally scheduled to face Cung Le at UFC 148, Franklin now looks to get back on track against the Brazilian fighter he defeated in 2009. “Ace” last fought against Forrest Griffin at UFC 126, losing to the former light heavyweight champion via unanimous decision.
Silva, meanwhile, is looking to build off his victory over the aforementioned Le, a technical knockout win back at UFC 139. The longtime veteran is 3-3 in his last six UFC contests, still competing at the age of 35.
UFC 147 is set for June 23, and the catch weight match up will serve as the evening’s main event.
