Report: UFC on Fuel TV: Korean Zombie vs. Poirier Draws 173K Viewers

Ratings dip for third UFC main card on Fuel

Tuesday’s live broadcast of UFC on Fuel TV: Korean Zombie vs. Poirier drew 173,000 viewers as the third live event to be featured on Fuel TV.

MMAjunkie.com reported the ratings on Wednesday. UFC on Fuel TV 3 took place at the Patriot Center in Fairfax, Va. and featured a main event between “The Korean Zombie,” Chan Sung Jung, and Dustin Poirier.

The event drew the lowest number of viewers for a main card on Fuel TV, falling short of the 217,000 and 197,000 viewers that tuned in for the first and second Fuel main card broadcasts, respectively.

Still, Fuel TV executives have shown much joy in the ratings boost they have received due to UFC content, and, though the numbers are low when compared to events on Spike TV or Versus, the UFC’s previous two cable homes, the network has seen a stark increase in ratings since the UFC and Fox locked down a broadcasting deal late last year.

In a rare Tuesday night event, the five-round main event went into the fourth before but a D’Arce choke submission by Jung led to a stoppage when Poirier was put to sleep.

A more than 3-to-1 underdog, Jung handed Poirier his first UFC loss in the Octagon and set himself up for a title shot against the UFC 149 winner of Jose Aldo vs. Erik Koch.

The next UFC event to broadcast on Fuel TV takes place on July 11 from the HP Pavilion in San Jose, Calif. The card will feature such draws as Jon Fitch, Mark Munoz, and Chris Weidman. Weidman and Munoz will meet in the main event.
